Site5Wiki:Searching
From Site5Wiki
In the search input box in the left sidebar, please enter the word or phrase in question.
You then have two methods of searching:
1. attempting to go to a direct page with that title; or
2. searching the wiki for that word or phrase in the standard method--searching for occurrences whereever they might be.
To accomplish option 1, simply either hit your keyboard's Return/Enter key, or click the Go button.
Note: This is an important quirk of searching MediaWiki. The normal, intuitive method of type»hit Return key»receive search results actually searches for page titles, and will prompt you to create a page of that title if it doesn't exist...which can be a confusing response from the wiki if it's not expected.
To accomplish option 2, simply click the Wiki Search button.
Four more alternatives to the searchbox on the left:
-
MIME Searching: Input: contenttype/subtype, such as image/png.
-
Searching uploaded files: Searching images and other uploaded files by name/keyword.
-
Searching by Prefix parameter: An example would be searching for pages in the Site5Wiki: namespace.
-
Special:Booksources: Searching for book citations.
-
Special:Linksearch: Search by protocol — i.e., ftp://,http://, etc.
