The measurements important to a webmaster are those for data storage space, and for bandwidth allotment. Both needs-space and time, so to speak-are measured using the same units:


Level of Measurement Value Abbreviations
Terabyte 1024 gigabytes; one trillion bytes TB, Tbyte, T-byte
Gigabyte 1,024 megabytes; one billion bytes GB, Gbyte, G-byte
Megabyte one million bytes MB, Mbyte, M-byte
Kilobyte 1,000 bytes KB, Kbyte, K-byte
Byte eight binary digits (bits) BinarY TablE
